POSTCARD: Kentucky is the 37th most extensive and the 26th most populous of the 50 United States located in the east south-central region of the United States that borders seven states - West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Illinois & Ohio. The state’s capital is Frankfort while it largest city is Louisville, home to the renowned Kentucky Derby. 

In 1792, the state split from Virginia & became the 15th state to join the Union. Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky’s two major cities are located in the Bluegrass Region in the state’s central region. Mammoth Cave National Park, the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the contiguous United States, and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River is also located in the state.
